NOW IT’S BEATLES V. ELVIS BATTLES
THE BEATLES are getting a stack of radio and newspaper publicity to pave the way for their Australian tour which starts in Adelaide on June 12 – and mostly in the form of “Beatles versus Elvis” contests, according to “Billboard” magazine.
Although most Australian hit parades list five or six Beatles’ discs on top, Elvis is battling along with his versions of “Viva Las Vegas,” “C’mon Everybody,” “Fun In Acapulco” and “Kiss Me Quick.”
Some radio stations are airing “Presley v. The Beatles” contests, and one station had a “Presley Day,” featuring Presley discs every 15 minutes.
