Although “Are You Lonesome Tonight” was a No.1 first-smacker in Disc, El was deprived of the second record in succession to do this in New Musical Express, Britain’s No.1 Musical Weekly. Reason? Faulty pressings. Hundreds were sent back to the Record Company for replacement, thereby robbing Elvis of the necessary initial sales. But a second British Golden Disc is still a possibility, as sales are astronomical.
