HAVE TV-WILL GALLOP
In Hal Wallis's "Blue Hawaii," which, starring Elvis Presley, Joan Blackman, Nancy Walters and Angela Lansbury, was made partly on location in Hawaii, there is a sequence in which Presley, who plays a tourist guide, takes a party of four teenage school girls and their teacher-chaperone on a scenic horseback ride around the island.
While the scene is an important one in the story, the four girls, Darlene Tompkins, Pamela Alert, Christian Kay and Jenny Maxwell, were not expected to be expert equestriennes, and this was just as well because when Wallis asked them if they had ever ridden a horse before, Miss Kay replied, sweetly: "No, but I've watched enough Westerns to know how it is done."
