THEY DIDN’T WANT EL – BUT BEETLES!On August 8th, Sgt. W. L. Maley Jnr. was sent to the vicinity of El’s home “Graceland” at 10 am in the morning to check on some “suspicious persons” who were reported loitering about the area. Sgt. Maley duly arrived and found the “suspicious persons” on Old Hickory Road, east of Highway 51 (where El lives). They turned out to be young men from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Pest Control Division. Sgt. Maley was told by Hugh S. Dollar the “suspicious persons” spokesman that they were after white-fringed beetles that feast on soybeans!
