RUSH RELEASE OF PRESLEY’S TWIN HITCAN Elvis Presley repeat his fantastic “Jailhouse Rock” achievement of 1958 by topping the hit parade at the first entry with his forthcoming RCA coupling “I Got Stung/One Night”?
RCA believe he can, and on Wednesday announced advance orders totalling nearly 250,000. The phenomenal demand has prompted the company to bring forward the release date by a week, and the disc will now be available on Jan. 9.
Both sides have been prominently positioned in the American hit parade for several weeks. Britain’s Cliff Richard, one of Presley’s most ardent admirers, performed both songs on ABC-TV’s “Oh Boy!” on Saturday.
