OMAHA, NEBRASKA 1974
The biggest entertainment event of the year will be held in the arena on June 30th and July 1st when Elvis Presley, the “King of Entertainment” visits Omaha for the first time since 1956.
After a small announcement on radio and in the newspaper that Omaha might be considered as a stop on an Elvis Presley tour, the auditorium received over 13,000 signatures on petitions and letters asking for the concert. All of the petitions and letters were sent to Colonel Parker, Elvis’ manager, and shortly afterward, the auditorium management was contacted by Col. Parker to confirm a date for the concert here.
The response to the first announcement was so overwhelming that Col. Parker rearranged Elvis’ tour and consented to hold an unprecedented three concerts in Omaha.
With over 10,000 pieces of mail received, accounting for over 30,000 tickets all three concerts were completely sold out within four days. The concerts will be held on June 30th at 2:30 and 8:30 P.M., and July 1st at 8:30 P.M. Doors will open one and one-half hours before each performance. All seats are reserved.
Orders were received from as far away as Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Denver, and several other cities. Auditorium manager, Charlie Mancuso, stated that this is definitely the biggest entertainment event to ever come to this entire area, thanks to the great generosity of Col. Parker in giving Omaha three Elvis concerts, and the tremendous support of the concerts by area residents.
