The documentation has subsequently been released from the official US Government archives of the time, and are presented here. Elvis wrote the attached 6-page letter to the President whilst travelling on board an American Airlines flight to Washington in the hope of securing an audience at the White House. Aside from providing a fascinating insight into the circumstances surrounding this intriguing encounter the handwritten letter from Elvis is perhaps the most extensive example of his handwritting in the public domain - so his of great interest for autograph authenticators and fans alike.
