ELVIS PULLS HIS SOCKS UP!

alt

Frankie And Johnny (RCA Victor RD 7793)

HERE we go again! Yet another Presley film album – but this time with a bit more life in it.

It’s about time Elvis came up with some decent songs. About time he pulled his socks up and used good material. Though I must admit even I liked his title track single release.

This bunch, although inclined to be just a little schmaltzy in parts, has the “King” in good form and definitely singing better. It’s all rather honky-tonk and pretentious – BUT won’t disappoint his fans. There’s also a bit of trad jazz touch to a lot of the tracks.

Best songs: “Chesay,” “Down By The Riverside,” “Shout It Out” and “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me.”
